Heritage Pies
+ Landmark location
Everything from the Pie Bar tastes homemade, because that’s how it all started - many of our pies and fine baked goods are made from recipes passed down through generations of talented home-bakers. We love being able to share that comforting taste of home with each person who stops in to visit.
In 2014 the Pie Bar’s founder, Maura, obtained the perfect home for our shop - 17 Main Street, which was The Frayer General store at the turn of the 20th century. The General Store sold gasoline, groceries, ice cream and coffee. By the mid 20th century, the space had become a barbershop, and remained so until 2014 when construction began on the Pie Bar. While cleaning out the basement, we even found old signs advertising “coffee,” “popcorn,” and “hot dogs”.
In 2023, Maura sold the business to Isaac and Danny, the owners of Familiars Coffee & Tea in downtown Northampton. We are proud to carry Maura’s baking tradition forward and honor the building’s history as a place for gathering, sharing, and community.
distinctive. bold. local.
Our menu rotates with seasonally inspired fruit pies, cream pies, and chess pies along with quiche, hand pies, and savory galettes.
We make our crust by hand with butter and King Arthur flour. We offer a daily selection of sweet and savory baked goods including scones, cookies, rugelach, tea cakes, handpies, and ham and cheese rolls.
Many of our ingredients are sourced locally - we source much of our fruit, vegetables, eggs and dairy from the bountiful local farms and vendors in Western Mass. We are passionate about our sources and inspired by the variety of fresh food they provide.
